Watch Me Glow Kit
about 2 hours agoRumor has it... treating the planet well and recycling makes your skin glow. ;) Considering which of your skincare empties you should toss or recycle requires a teeny bit extra work, but our planet is absolutely worth the effort.
Adhesive labels aren’t recyclable. It’s true - adhesives actually create tons of issues if it enters the recycling stream.
Rinse out the packaging and make sure it's completely empty and clean from any residue! Dirty, sticky containers have a lower recyclable likelihood. Plus, any lingering product can contaminate other recyclable objects, turning them non-recyclable.
Before you toss, make sure all parts of your skincare empties are actually suitable for recycling. Don’t fret, here’s a simple breakdown…
plastic bottles or tubes, glass jars, steel or aluminum aerosol bottles, cardboard boxes.
Avoid crushing or flattening any containers.
Leave on lids (unless it's a non-recyclable material that's different from the recyclable container). Small caps are typically too small to be recycled on their own, so be sure to keep they attached.
droppers, pumps, trigger sprayers, cellophane, adhesive labels, multi-material packaging (i.e. face masks pouches). These components may include non-recyclable materials, such as metal springs and rubber.
BTW...these are general recycling tips. Some communities consider different materials recyclable, and packaging size and color (i.e. colored glass or printing inks) also play a factor. Double-check your local city’s recycling guide for any additional standards and restrictions. When in doubt, keep an eye out for the triangle with arrows symbol (AKA a Mobius loop) to confirm the object is capable of being recycled.
