Watch Me Glow Kit
about 2 hours agoEntering a new decade really makes us think about what matters, and for us, that hasn’t changed since we first opened our virtual doors. What matters most to us is YOU! We’ve always been obsessed with concocting the best of the best natural skincare because skincare is a great way to incorporate putting yourself first daily...a.k.a practicing self-care!
While we can design products fit for any lifestyle or need, we know no one knows self-care more than, well, yourself! So, for all of 2020 we will be spotlighting green beauty enthusiasts, boss babes, Honey Belle team members, AND even our very own customers in a special Q&A series centered around all things self-care.
Follow along and get inspo for new ways to love on yourself or if you have some awesome tips and want to share, let us know here. Ready. Set. Self-care.
Meet Liberty 💛
Meet Liberty also known as Libs or @oh_madlibs on Instagram. Liberty is Honey Belle’s very own Retail Expansion Lead, if you’re ever interested in having your retail store carry Honey Belle, she makes it happen.
At 18, Liberty began her career in the beauty industry as a makeup artist (so yes, her eyebrows are always ‘on-fleek’). Her favorite color depends on the day and she named her dog ‘Eleanor Rigby’ because of her love for The Beatles. In her free time, she DJ’s on the 1's and 2's, is a yoga instructor and enjoys learning how to do a handstand.
Can you walk us through a typical day for you?
A typical day starts off with me slowly waking up to my phone alarm. I press snooze - and loudly stretch in my bed - and in my head, or sometimes out loud, I say "thank you," over and over again til I finally get up and get ready. I take shower, brush my teeth, do a skin care routine, make up (depending on the day), pick clothes to wear, and pack clothes to take with me if my day is packed with other activities (like meetings, or the gym).
When I get home from the day, I listen to music, read a couple pages of a book, or do a face mask/have a gua sha session. I love to put on some essential oils, take my night time supplements with melatonin to help me go to sleep, scroll on Pinterest for a little, give thanks to the day that I lived and then fall asleep.
What are your favorite ways to self-care?
My favorite ways to self-care include: going to the gym and leaving super sweaty/accomplished, drinking tea, taking my vitamins, cleaning my room, using essential oils for aromatherapy, taking a yoga class and breathing into 'child's pose,' face-masking, using gua sha on my face and body, going to music festivals and seeing cool artists with my best friends and dancing the whole day, drinking a lot of water, cuddling with my dog - Eleanor.
What are some things that cause you stress? How do you manage?
Some things that cause me stress are traffic, eczema flare-ups, hormonal breakouts, and bills. I manage by praying/meditating, trying to stay away from certain foods, eating healthier, being loyal to my calendar, and budgeting.
What advice related to self-care do you wish you received growing up?
I would tell my younger self that taking care of yourself is NOT changing or altering yourself to look different. It doesn't mean that you have to color a hair on your head or change how you look. Self-care is a privilege, and it is a form of love that needs to be expressed because no one else can express it but you. Self-care matters because you matter.
Can you tell us more about skincare and self-care?
With the weather changes and my eczema dry patches, I've been finding Honey Belle’s LUXE Cleansing Oil is better for my skin! I can tell the difference in texture of my skin and I love it. I've also been super into the Herbal Dynamics Lip Mask - I get pretty gnarly lip lines from time to time, so this helps tons. My skincare needs doubles as self-care and I’m here for it.
I would have to say that my fave (though it’s hard to narrow it down to just one product) is ELIXIR Facial Oil. I use that thing religiously, no matter the weather. I like putting on a couple extra drops for a dewy foundation look. It balances out the oils of my skin, and my skin just looks healthy and happy. Not to mention the aroma of it is so calming. I feel like I'm at the spa.
That's all for now! Know someone whose self-care game is on point? Send us a message and we'll ask ALL the questions.
